Founded in 2004, Monogram Food Solutions began operations when a group of
Memphis investors purchased King Cotton and Circle B Brand foods from Sara Lee
Corporation of Chicago. The purchase signified a homecoming for the brands. King
Cotton was founded nearly 70 years ago in Memphis. King Cotton and Circle B are
among the leading brands in retail sales of hot dogs, corn dogs, sandwich meats,
and smoked sausages in the Memphis and Mid-South area.
The former president of the Sara Lee Foods Dinner Group, Wes Jackson,
continued Monogram's growth with the help of established relationships with key
industry contacts. This was the precursor to licensing brands featuring NASCAR® and Jeff Foxworthy.
In May of 2006, Monogram Food Solutions continued to expand with the acquisition of
Trail's Best Meat Snacks from Sara Lee Corporation of Chicago. Trail's Best is one of
the nations largest manufacturers of quality meat snacks; including jerky, meat and cheese snacks,
kippered beef sticks and pickled sausages. The manufacturing facility is located in Chandler,
Minnesota. The new division is
named Monogram Meat Snacks.
Also in 2006, Steve Hofford joined Monogram as VP/General Manager of Monogram Comfort Foods.
During year of 2007, Monogram began production of Circle B smoked sausages at it's Chandler, MN facility.
