PRESS RELEASE - Monogram Snacks Martinsville Celebrates Job Growth with Governor’s Visit
Governor McDonnell Brings $2 Million in Job Incentives to Monogram Plant in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA. (April 22, 2010) – Monogram Snacks Martinsville, formerly Knauss Meat Snacks, welcomes Governor Robert F. McDonnell on Monday, April 26th as well as Kathy Lawson, Mayor of Martinsville and a multitude of area dignitaries to the plant to celebrate its growth and success. Governor McDonnell will present Monogram with a check for $2 million dollars from the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority with help from the Martinsville/Henry County Economic Development Board to continue the plant’s expansion and create even more jobs in Henry County. The Board of Directors for Monogram Food Solutions will also be attending the ceremonies in Martinsville.

Monogram Snacks Martinsville is a division of Monogram Food Solutions, the Memphis-based manufacturer of branded processed meats, which owns the Hannah’s, Bull’s, O’Brien’s, Wild Bill’s and Dakota Brands as well as Trail’s Best brands of meat products.

Governor McDonnell will speak on site at 4:45 PM to recognize the job growth created in the plant over the last 7 months. Monogram has added over 200 full and temporary positions since the plant’s acquisition.

Monogram has invested more than $10 million in the Martinsville operation since it assumed operation of the plant in September of 2009. Sales generated from the plant have more than doubled and the production volume has increased +58%. The plant is currently producing over 12 million pounds of product annually. According to Monogram Chairman & CEO Karl Schledwitz, the hard work and dedication of the Monogram plant team has been the driving factor in the massive growth in production.

Monogram plans to continue to grow both jobs and production volume at the Martinsville, VA plant by improving its manufacturing and technology equipment, and adding new products to its production line.

“We could not be happier with our partnership with the City of Martinsville and Henry County, the resources and talented work force that we have found here in Virginia have made this plant one of the most successful in our company” said Karl Schledwitz. “We are pleased with our volume and sales growth here and plan to continue growing the workforce at this Monogram facility.”

Monogram Food Solutions was founded in 2004 when a group of Memphis investors bought King Cotton and Circle B Brand foods from Sara Lee Corporation. King Cotton and Circle B brands continue to be among the leading brands of hot dogs, corn dogs, bologna and smoked sausage in Memphis and the Mid-South. In 2006, Monogram acquired Trail’s Best Meat Snacks from Sara Lee, then acquired Simply Good Foods and Al Pete Meats through a joint venture in 2009. Monogram also acquired Knauss Meat Snacks from AFG as well as Wild Bill’s Foods in Lancaster, PA in 2009. The company’s products, all made in the USA, also include well-known name-brand products such as Bass Pro Shops Uncle Buck’s Licensed Products, Bull & Hannah’s Meat Snacks, Al Pete Meats and Trail’s Best Meat Snacks.

Monogram now operates facilities in Virginia, Tennessee, Minnesota and Indiana.
